Meeting the legend Gary McGrath!
By September 2017 I was ready to take my freediving to the next level. I was diving as far as my equalisation could take me and beginning to think about the possibility of becoming an instructor in the future. We traveled over as a group of four, the Hickson's (Alice & Amy) and Kate & I, where we planned to meet up with Beci Ryan.
I'd never been to Ibiza, I thought it was just a Party Island and partying days were long behind me. We had a Chalet booked at a campsite in Santa Eulalia, on the East of the island, far from San Antonio & the club's. It was really nice, super chilled.
We met up with Gary & Lynne the evening we arrived. Such a lovely pair, felt comfortable with them straight away.
New it was going to be a great holiday & course.
During the course we went to various dive sites around the island and even had time to go out on a speed boat for the day. The highlight of the trip being the "cave of light", a swim through about 10m down which comes out into a limestone open cavern. Super cool spot, played for hours.
The course was great, learnt a lot from Gary and made a good friend in the process.
